Nick Darke Award 2011
Entries are now open for the Nick Darke Award 2011, with prize money of £3,000 to be awarded to a single winner. Funded solely by the School of Media & Performance at University College Falmouth (UCF), the aim of the Award is to allow the winner the time to work on their writing by giving them financial backing and support.
The Nick Darke award was conceived in 2006 by Nick’s wife, the artist and film maker Jane Darke and with the support of his family. As in previous years, writers are asked to submit work that pursues an environmental theme in order to reflect Nick Darke’s lifelong commitment to this issue. Submission must be made within one of the following four disciplines:
• stage play
• screenplay
• radio play
• documentary film
Please submit an outline of 2,500 words maximum of your idea, along with your CV and 20 sample script pages. The deadline for submissions is 8 April 2011.
The winning entrant will receive £3,000 to allow them to complete their script to industry standards. The payment will be made in two instalments of £1,500.
