A Tickle on the River’s Back
Written in 1979. Originally performed at the Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Set on the Thames about a family of lightermen, who transported goods with barges, and how they coped with changes over twenty years.
‘When all three generations meet on a fishing trip in a derelict dock, fireworks ensue-splendidly illuminating the dramatic change in the role of fathers over the last two decades. All in all a thought provoking, original and thoroughly enjoyable piece of work.’ – London Evening News.
