Calling all choirs and singers – come and sing on the beach! 16 July 2010

This community sing on the beach at Porthcothan is the finale for the Darke Visions festival celebrating the life and works of Cornish playwright Nick Darke. The evening will include community, school and male voice choirs and will finish with joint singing of The Lobster Song, by Nick Darke and Jim Carey.

Choirs that would like to take part may have the opportunity to sing a small sample of their own repertoire and then to join the other choirs in SATB parts for the final singing of The Lobster Song. If your whole choir would like to be part of the event, please contact Dave Hunter on cytco@tiscali.co.uk or 01637 871539

Individual singers, please come and enjoy the event and join your part section in the Lobster Song. Please let Jemima Taylor know that you are coming by emailing her on jemima.taylor@keap.org.uk or 01872 275187.

Please note there is a limit on the number of people allowed on the beach for this event, so please ensure you contact Dave or Jemima as above if you would like to attend.

For the Lobster Song finale, all the choirs and singers will be split into SATB parts so you will be singing with other singers who know the song. There will be a brief rehearsal led by Jim Carey and then a performance of the song.

The Lobster song is available to listen to free at scores and the SATB score can be downloaded for £2.25. We suggest you familiarise yourself with the song before the event.

If you have any queries please contact Dave Hunter on cytco@tiscali.co.uk or 01637 871539.
